Dan Jackson Foundation

Lenny and Nancy Jackson created the Dan Jackson foundation after the untimely death of their youngest child, Daniel Paul Jackson. Since the foundation's inception in 1999 it has given away thousands of dollars to help those in need.

In September of 1997 Dan was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. At the time he was an active twelve year old who loved life and seemed to get along with everyone. He was a good student who loved to play sports and musical instruments.

Dan spent the next fourteen months in and out of the Janet Weis Children's Hospital at the Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania. While there Danny's concern for others prompted him to give away balloons and gifts to the sick children on his floor, most of these children were also cancer patients. Danny kept a journal during this time and in it he recorded how he would dedicate his life to helping those in need when he got better Unfortunately Danny did not live long enough to fulfill his dream. On November 18, 1998 Daniel Paul Jackson succumbed to an infection he got during treatment and went to be with his Lord.

Danny's parents decided to fulfill Danny's dream by creating the foundation that bears his name. Since his untimely departure the Dan Jackson Foundation has helped many people and worthwhile organizations, including the New York State Sheriff's summer camp (which annually sends over 800 under privileged kids to camp), The Children's Miracle Network, The Janet Weis Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House. The foundation has also helped provide funds for children and families who are suffering through serious illness, surgery, and loss of a family member, fire or other catastrophic event.

The Foundation also gives out a yearly scholarship to a graduating senior who has been involved in helping others and the community.

The foundation raises money through an annual golf tournament and donations from loving and caring people who like Danny want to help those less fortunate.
